Victor Goes to Church!

Victor - the dog (who was donated to Tom's kindy after Cyclone Larry....from another kindy in South Australia), came home with us for the weekend. He joined in all of our usual weekend activites including church on Sunday morning. We didn't get a photo diary of the whole weekend, but I remembered to take the camera with us to church..........hence the "Victor goes to Church" pics!!

My Sweet Cherubs.................NOT!

Rod and I were inside chatting with our minister and his wife, our lovely boys decided to make their own fun in our backyard.........which part of the "no water, no dirt" instruction did they not understand!?!?!?!?

The Hide

This morning I decided to take advantage of the many fallen palm fronds that are littering our yard. The project started out with the aim of creating a tee pee, but due to windy conditions, turned out to be more of a 'hide', resting on another large fan palm frond and the fence. The boys immediately swung into action and created a 'weapons store' (milk crate), with Keesha as their 'sabre tooth' for protection. I have a feeling it will remain standing for a few days yet, with many hours of play battles and the like to take place.

Undara

Well........there are huge gaps in this blog (I might add out-of-sequence pics once I get around to editing them), but I'll try and get back in the habit by posting my most recent pics.

These pics are from last week when we travelled out to Undara (2 1/4 hours from here) to see the lava tubes and 'camp'. The camping was very civilised as we stayed in permanent tents which had floors, lights, sink and a bar fridge - this is as close to camping as I get!!

We went on a lovely short bushwalk on Wednesday afternoon as the sun was going down, as well as a couple of trips to the pool (as you do when you have two active boys). Thursday went went on a half day tour of the lava tubes and got filthy!

We had a really lovely time and wished that we had stayed another night or two!

What is it with tiny bottles and flowers???

Yes, another flower/tiny bottle combination. This time the story is about HOW I came to get these flowers! Let's just say that I have two gorgeous boys who thought that they could justify robbing our church flower bed of these treasures to give to their Mum. Their Mum unfortunately scowled as soon as she saw them "Where did you get these from!!!???" I know they meant well!

Orchid

My lovely neighbour, Grace, picked this beautiful orchid for me. The whole stem is only 10cm long - they are the mosty dainty little flowers you've ever seen, with such fine details. The little glass bottle also has a history. I went on a canoeing camp a few years ago (don't ask!), and while our local dam was at a very low level, we explored the banks. Much to my surprise we found a myriad of tiny bottles just lying on the ground getting trampled by cattle! The banks of the dam were where the old town had been before they flooded the valley. I am assuming that this was a small bottle for ?maybe smelling salts or pills. I have been waiting for years to take photographs of something in these bottles. I think the orchid certainly does it justice!

Tiger Boys

Tom was given a 'Tiger Face Painting Kit' last Christmas, and I finally had the courage to crack open the seal! The boys had a lovely play outside pretending to be ........you guessed it....TIGERS!!

Clean Sweep

Well, almost a clean sweep! I entered these two photos in the local show last weekend. I am slightly proud of myself as I managed to pick up first and second in the B&W portrait section AND Champion B&W print for the one of Tom! I know, I know - I'm the bag designer---- Kate and Cath are the photographers!! They just need to move here and then they'd have the clean sweep!
Rod also did very well - but this is MY blog, you can email him if you want to know more!! I do have to thank him for putting these two in for me - I was rather impartial - "oh alright, do what you want with them".......so he got them printed, and mounted them and did all the paper work! Thanks sweetheart!
BTW the second pic is of our lovely friends - Simone and her son Oliver - this is now a treasured pic for Simone, so thank you Simone for allowing me to catch an image that will bring back lovely memories!

Cold Morning

We had our first really cold morning for the season this morning. After brekky, Tom climbed back into bed and donned his beany, to warm up. After a little while the beany was tossed, and I just couldn't resist getting some shots with lovely natural SUNLIGHT streaming through the window.

It's happening!

My new blog site - for all of my specific HabbyChic business dealings (sounds very important) is up and running. Feel free to have a look http://www.habbychic.blogspot.com

I have had a great response to the lens pouch that I have made for Kate, and will be chained to my sewing table for about a month! I now can accept PayPal payments which makes it really easy to sell to international customers! GO AUSSIE MADE!

Here's a pic of Kate with the Hip Hugger Lens Pouch!

Demonstration Class

A few weeks ago, I did a demonstraion class for the Year 12 Home Ec students at the high school. I made the polka dot clutch as an example and then made the green one in front of them during class. This was an interesting experience to have 12 sets of eyes watching your every move. No room for error. Thankfully it turned out perfectly and I even managed to put pseudo piping around the front edge just by rolling the lining to the outside! Have to remember that one!

Rod's Sydney Trip

Rod went to Sydney last weekend to see the Socceroos play Uruguay. I didn't go! But Rod took my camera with him, and these are a few of my favourite shots. I was rather proud of him - he took some really great shots - for a bloke!
